On Friday, April 16, 2010, 24 artists collaboratively created an improvisational mural-sized comic strip 8' tall and 60' long.

At 5pm, choreographer Elizabeth Johnson created a silhouette-driven story using six volunteers: Richard Newman, Brian Patrick Moore, and Liza Bielby (of The Hinterlands), Sunset Playhouse Managing Director Jonathan West and his daughter Dorothea, and actor Jason Waszak.

Three colorists rendered their images against the blank canvas: Skylight Theater scenic artist Carri Dahl, freelance painter Andrea Toussaint, and freelance scenic designer Nathan Stuber.

Six illustrators alternated for 4 hours with the colorists in creating characters and background: Tea Krulos, Matt Chicorel, David Beyer Jr., Christopher MacDonald, Dan Hernandez, and Michael Cothroll (with some extra volunteer work from Pietro Norante).

As the artists finalized their last looks, writer Jackie Steffen-Bublitz began creating and applying the text to the individual cells.

The whole process took approximately 7 hours.

We were generously hosted by Nebi and Sini at Moct Bar.

Invaluable assistance was provided by volunteers Kat Danielsen, Chris Warner, and Tanya Dhein (pictured above). Brent Bublitz kept a steady stream of pictures going to Lovesick Robot. Michelle Sherkow took archival photos over at Flickr. Jay Bauman and Lauren Burke provided video documentation.
